Necklaces

I sometimes joke with my father that I have adult ADHD. I have a difficult time focusing on one thing for a very long time. I am either doing crazy quilting, or beading, or jewelry. Tomorrow it may be cuffs or altered art. There is always so much rattling around in my head I often don't know which way to turn first. This week it was necklaces for my craft shows. Here are a few pictures of some of the necklaces. I really enjoy these dangling charm style necklaces. They were fairly easy to make. The most difficult part was collecting all the charms and miscellaneous other items. Here are some of the silver necklaces:

They are about 36" long and fun to wear cuz they jingle when you move. I have made about 12 of them all together and will be selling them for $45.00 each.

Altered Art

So this is one of the items I've been busy with lately. I've been doing some altered art using antique spoons and forks. I saw something similar on Pinterst and totally loved them. I have a few in my kitchen and one of my co-workers has purchased one for her kitchen. I think I'm going to sell some of them at the flea market next summer. Here is one of the forks:

I had some guy friends from work drill the holes in the spoons and forks for the chains. Attached the chains with jump rings. The other materials were purchased at garage sales, some at Micheals, others at JoAnns fabrics, some at antiques stores, some are from earrings and still other parts are just from some old charms I had laying around. I used E6000 glue for the gluing parts of this project. Hope you enjoy them.

October CQJP

I am so glad that I got a little ahead of myself in completing some of my CQJP blocks because lately I've been falling behind. I am trying to start a business doing craft shows so I have been very busy making jewelry and creating inventory. Yikes. Never enough hours in my day but I'm sure you all know the feeling.

So here is the block I have submitted for Oct.

I am also working on my bead journal projects. I have fallen a little behind that as well. But I am working on that currently. Stay tuned.

September CQJP

Well summer is coming to a close here in northern Wisconsin. Labor day is our last big hooray. I'm a little glad and sad at the same time. Summer always goes by too quickly.

Here are some close up photos of the block I submitted for September's CQJP.

I am also showing you where some of my creativity happens in the jewelry department. This is actually my kitchen table. Good thing I live alone sometimes....lol. I'm sure most of us have a spot like this where we do are work. I like the kitchen table or a corner in the front room and like I said, I live alone so it doesn't bother anybody (and the dog don't care) and I don't waste time having to put things away all the time. I do some type of work almost everyday anyways.

Also I am displaying a few photos of my golden angel...She is my wonderful doggie..Nala. Love her much!

She's a beautiful dog and her heart matches her beautiful face. Here is one more goofy photo of her. This is how she sleeps at night. The other day I woke up early before the alarm clock and she was snoring loudly right in my ear. It's probably what woke me up...I had a good laugh about it and hated to wake her up.

August BJP

Well it's been awhile since I posted last, sorry. I have been working, working, working. August is always a ruff month for me and we always seem to be short handed at work. Good pay but long days. I have also been making earrings to sell at my local flea market for when I actually do get a day off.  But I have finally finished my August beaded rock. With fall in the air here in northern Wisconsin I decided to do a maple leaf this month. I think it's the best rock so far. It took awhile because I wasn't sure of the path I wanted it to take but in the end it turned out nicely.

 

 

 

 

I also made a lot of earring in the last two weeks to sell at the local flea market. I had to laugh because I took a few of my beaded rocks with me to use as weights in case the wind picked up. Those rocks were a smashing hit. People loved them. The rocks actually drew people into my booth (kids REALLY loved them) People would come over and touch them. As soon as they touched them they realized they were rocks and were amazed. I spent the better part of my day explaining how to do these rock. It was fun to watch people enjoy them so. Any ways here are a few photos of all the earring I have been working on. I wish my earrings were as much of a hit as the rocks. People like the earrings but they loved those rocks more.

CQJP block

I'm starting to lose track which blocks I have completed and how many I have left. I'm thinking I have about 3 blocks left to finish (out of 16). Here is a photo of the lastest completed block

And here are a few details of this block. I did a lot of trail and error stitches with this block. I would try something and really didn't care for the effect and ripped it out. But I finally settled with what I had done and was happy with how it turned out.

Some of the buttons on this block's button cluster I recently purchased at a local garage sale. I bought a huge bucket of buttons from this lady for $17.00. I swear it was 2 or 3 lbs of buttons. Maybe a handful turned out to be really cool buttons but thats ok. I'm sure I will find uses for the rest at some time. Garage sales, thrift stores, antique stores and Goodwills are some of my favorite haunts. You always stumble on something you can't live with out. For example, I just purchased this great little dresser at the local thrift store. I absolutely love it! It has so much character.

I also finally purchased a new camera. I went with another Nikon Coolpix. It has a super duper optical zoom on it but I still need to get a feel for the camera and its capabilities.

I also went to get some more rocks for my BJP (I was running out of the ones I like to use). Here is a pic of my new stash of rocks. I get the rocks up in the upper pennisula of Michigan on Lake Superior near Porcupine Mountain. They are nice and flat on most of the surface so I really like to use them for the BJP. So off I go to create my August rock.
