CQJP

Yep.....another block finished. This was just one of those blocks that just takes off. It only took about 4 days to complete and I enjoyed making every bit of it. I only have a few decent pictures because my camera is still giving me some problems and I really haven't had the chance to look at new cameras yet. Working on it thou. So please bear with the quality of the photos. The first photo is of the complete block.

The second photo shows the details of the flower cluster. The larger light blue flowers I created using 7 mm light blue YLI silk ribbon with a Loop stitch for the petals and the smaller flowers are made using 4mm teal YLI silk ribbon using Japanese ribbon stitches. I used pearls for the center of the flowers. I also used an unlying feather stitch and added some enlongated pearl beads to act as flower buds. For the seam just above the flowers I used a Loop stitch and tack it down with beads.

The next photo shows the detail of the tree. I enjoy including trees in my crazy quilts. For the trunk of the tree I used a chain stitch in a light brown DMC floss (3 strands). And then the leaves are Japanese ribbon stitches in a medium teal 4 mm YLI silk ribbon. The tree is meant to be on some what of a slant. I wanted it to look a little like a bonsai tree. I then added some straight stitches by the trunk to act as grasses.

The 3rd photo shows a cast on stitch embellished with some small teal bugle beads and then larger gold twisted bugle beads. In this photo you can also see part of one of the antique doillies I purchased awhile back. I also embellished this with some pearls.

And in the last photo in the bottom seam I used and enlongated chain stitch and took 3 straight stitches off the ends of the chain stitch. Then embellished the straight stitches with a twisted light blue bugle bead. The upper seam is your basic Chevron stitch embellished with 4 mm teal YLI silk ribbon and beads.

Have a great day  :)

CPJP and BJP

Here is just a quick photo update on this years projects so far. First a photo of all the completed rocks.

And then the completed blocks for the CQJP so far. Also stay tuned because I am almost finished with another block and its not the one I recentely posted as a work in progress. This is an entirely different block. I only have 2 more seams to finish on it and it will be completely finished. I will try to finish it tonight after work and post some picture tomorrow. Until then......

Have a great day :)

July BJP

Well lots has been happening since my last post (besides work). I have just completed my July's beaded rock today. This month I decided to go with the color scheme of my CQJP, the blues and browns. I had some beautiful focal stones which I wanted to use on this project so I placed one in the center and designed outward from there. I really never have a complete design layout in my head when I start these projects. I usually just go with the flow. Do some of you have your complete project planned before you begin? I'm just wondering.

I also started a new crazy quilt project. I want to make some purses. Here is a picture of the start of one of them. I plan on embellishing these with silk flowers, a lot of trim, buttons, and beaded trim on the bottom. Stay tuned for more.

And here are a few pictures of my progress on my next CQJP block (block 12). I figured I'd share its progress since I was already posting today anyways. For the teal flower I used organza ribbon, cut out small circles, then burned the edges with a candle and stacked them on top of one another to create the flower. It turned out nicely, but next time I think I will use smaller circles. Also if you look closely, the dolliey is one of the doilys I purchased at the antique store a while back. I dyed it and placed it on this block. My dilema is that I really don't want to cover much of it up because of the details on the doily (small butterflies) So I'm not going to add to much to the area with the doily on it.

I also found this great lamp base at Goodwill this week. It's cast iron and has an old antique look to it. I just absolutely love it. I was so excited when I found it just sitting on the shelf calling to me. It made my day! I am going to bead a lamp shade to go with it.

Also my doggie found a nest of baby bunnies (second time this year already). Lucky for the bunnies my dog has a very gently mouth and did not hurt any of them; scared them a little, but didn't hurt them. I put the babies back in their nest at night and in the morning they were all gone so hopefully they found their way some place safe. I always joke that in the animal world bunnies lucked out in the cuteness department compared to say, snakes (which I also have in my yard). So I'm sharing the photo of the cute baby bunnies and the proud bunny getter (Nala).

That's all for now. Have a wonderful day :)

July's CQJP

This is the crazy quilt block that I have submitted for this months CQJP. It was completed awhile back so I am reposting some of the close up pictures in case any of you wander over from the CQJP blog.

The center flowers are an organza two toned (blue/brown) ribbon stitched using a gathered stitch with small fern like leaves coming out from the center. The main teal colored  bridal lace was hand dyed and embellished with 2 colors of pearl beads and accented with Hanna silk ribbon. The flower cluster to the upper right has 3 main loop flowers with lazy daisy stitched with a Bullion tip flowers. The little white leaves are actually sequins and some of the buttons in the cluster towards the bottom right are antiques that I received as a gift from my daughter this past Christmas.

I also have a small correction to make from my last post. That is actually block number 11 that is completed on my CQJP. I miss counted. Opps....Everyone have a wonderful and safe 4th of July.
